Additional Information:
Louise van Holthe tot Echten was born on March 26, 1892, in Utrecht. She received her education under Henk Bremmer and Nicolas Eekman and was a member of the Schilder- en teekengenootschap Kunstliefde in Utrecht. Her work was exhibited during the "Onze Kunst van Heden" exhibition in 1939 at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. Holthe tot Echten also showcased her work at the Onafhankelijken in Amsterdam.
This work on paper is an exceptionally collectible gouache created when she was 20 years old. In the summer of 1912, she depicted two Zeeland girls on the beach using small, unmixed dots, entirely in a pointillist style. This drawing is a gem within her modest body of work. Louise van Holthe tot Echten passed away on November 20, 1981, in Doorn.
